Collegiate-Style A Cappella Class

For High-School Students

Instructor:  Nick Bombicino
Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:30 pm,  March 21 – May 16
Fee:  8-weeks $130

In this class, students will learn first hand through the practice of repertoire.  The class will consist of rehearsal time structured like that of a college group, with the possible goal of putting on a performance or demonstration of the work produced over the course of the class.  Like a college group, some repertoire will be selected by students in the class, solos will be both auditioned and selected, and the students will work together to program their concert.  By being part of these various processes, students will leave the class better equipped for the post-high school a cappella world.  There will also be workshop aspects to the class and some lecture components relying on media of various kinds to illustrate the elements and aspects of the collegiate style.

Nick Bombicino

A recent graduate of Ithaca College, Nick spent two years studying music and music education before changing degree programs to pursue a B.A. in Drama and Italian Studies, maintaining a minor in music.  He spent his entire time at Ithaca in its premier co-ed a cappella group, IC VoiceStream. Putting to good use what he learned in his 12 years studying at the BMC and the BUHS music department, he rose to the position of Musical Director, which he held for two years. Since graduating, he has spent time teaching a cappella and working with groups in the Brattleboro area including the BUHS chorus and the all female group Renegade, as well as arranging music for local groups and groups from Ithaca College, Hobart and William Smith, Roger Williams University, and Smith College.
