Music in the Schools is a collaboration between the Brattleboro Music Center and area public schools, offering Windham County school children access to enhanced musical experiences beyond what is available in their schools.
Each year students are given the opportunity to see ensembles perform live at their schools, to take part in string instrument instruction, to participate in the Prima Orchestra and Extension Band, and to attend a special concert of the Windham Orchestra geared toward school children at Brattleboro’s Latchis Theatre.
The Brattleboro Music Center offers the Music in the Schools program in keeping with their mission “to promote the love and understanding of good music and to make it a vital part of the community”. Music has an incalculable and deeply profound effect on all who study it. Students of music develop important study skills that affect and enrich their overall academic lives.
