9 am - 3 pm BMC Booth Brattleboro Retreat Campus Visit the BMC's Instrument Petting Zoo at our booth on the festival grounds. Music School Faculty and David Baker, of Baker Violins, will be on hand to help you try out a variety of string instruments.
10 am PARADE Main Street, Brattleboro Brattleboro's world-famous Strolling of the Heifers Parade happens on Saturday, June 5, starting 10 a.m. Don't be late! The heifers are at the front of the parade and the BMC Music School's Junior and Senior orchestras will be joining marching behind.
1 pm ENTERTAINMENT Family Entertainment Tent, Brattleboro Retreat Campus Following the parade, Music School Faculty and Students will provide musical entertainment including a rousing rendition of John Philip Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever. Performances will feature the Prima and Junior Student Orchestras and assorted ensembles representing the broad scope of musical offerings at the BMC.
6:30 pm COMMUNITY CONTRA DANCE The Stone Church, Grove & Main Streets, Brattleboro Brattleboro is one of the hubs of the contradance movement! Join caller Mary Cay Brass, accompanied by Keith Murphy and Lissa Scheckenburger, plus students from the Brattleboro Music Center's Celtic Music classes. Admission $7 for adults, $4 for children, $20 for families. All dances are taught, no experience is necessary!
7 pm WINDHAM COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL 35th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT River Garden, Main Street, Brattleboro, VT The Brattleboro Music Center will present the world premiere of "Welcome Santo", a world fusion piece by Derrik Jordan, in three movements for kalimba, shekere, and string quartet; and "The Jet Whistle" by Heitor Villa-Lobos for flute and cello.
