| Description: | Pathways of Imagination & Performance A Special Children’s Performance of the Windham Orchestra Providing an extraordinary opportunity for Young Artists & Listeners YOUNG Composers The Orchestra will perform a medley of original compositions by local elementary and middle school students from our community. YOUNG Musicians Outstanding young instrumental soloists will be highlighted including violinist Anna Perkins, winner of the Windham Orchestra’s Concerto Competition for High-School Students in a a performance of Edouard Lalo's Symphonie Espangole. SHOSTAKOVICH Symphony No. 9 This masterwork, though written for adult audiences, is a real playground of discovery and fascination for listeners of any age. Students will find it intriguing to define the moods of this music: its fun and sarcasm, its heroism and thoughtfulness. All elements of this concert explore and amplify what it means to be human, to strive and perform, and we promise our audience of young listeners an enjoyable and inspiring experience.
